Stephen has deep passion for restoring and empowering suffering and vulnerable persons, especially orphans and less-fortunate children. Presently Stephen is building an orphanage in his home country, Liberia (West Africa). When completed the orphanage will provide housing (dormitories), education (high school), health services (clinic), and spiritual support (chapel) to fifty (50) orphans and hundreds of other kids from the neighboring community.
Liberia remains among the world’s top poverty-stricken nations with its average citizen living below $1 per day. The typical Liberian person walks by foot as a regular means of commuting due to lack of income.
Bearing a heart that seeks the good of others, Stephen has dedicated 10% of his income from Uber and 100% of tips from riders to orphan's education and welfare in Liberia.

Stephen and his family have learned that every $1 counts in the life of every person in Africa. In 2017 they took their son Testimony (6 years-old) to Liberia on a mission trip. Testimony was overwhelmed and touched by what he experienced - he saw his peers live in homes with no electricity, no flush toilets, no freezers, no TV, no internet, and of course no tablet. Worst of all he saw children go to bed hungry. At one point he saw eight children in one home eat a small bowl of rice. He couldn't believe that there was no dessert, no side dishes and that this was their only meal for the day. He couldn't understand that all the children he met had no idea what breakfast was. They had no idea what a snack is and if they did, they would never be able to get one.
These experiences ultimately changed Testimony's view of life. Shortly upon return, we went to Dollar Tree to purchase some stuffs. As usual, Testimony would ask for $1 to buy a Snickers chocolate bar. But on this day when he was given a dollar to buy a Snicker bar for himself, what he said was astounding: "I won't buy Snickers bar with my dollar; I will send it to my friends in Liberia. They need food." Though $1 sounds a lot like nothing when viewed as a cost for a Snickers chocolate bar at a Dollar Tree store, it is of so much worth to children in Liberia/Africa. And so as a result of Testimony's conviction about the needs of orphans/children in Liberia, we set up the ONE DOLLAR FOR ONE ORPHAN campaign. Under this campaign our goal is to feed 50 orphans/less-fortunate children every day. This means we need $50 a day to enable each of our 50 children eat a decent meal.
We would highly appreciate your participation in this life-changing initiative. Your donations will transform a life by bringing joy to a child who would otherwise go to bed hungry. Would you kindly consider making a donation, even if it is a dollar? You can make a donation here.
Thank you for being a partner, even if it is in a small way. By the way, there is nothing such as a small gift once it can help to make life meaningful for another person, especially a vulnerable and suffering kid.
In addition to orphan care, Stephen is involved with several other initiatives including annual mission trips from Des Moines to Liberia, construction of an orphanage with a school and dormitories (HOPE CENTER), Village Pastors Training, Church Planting, agricultural sustainability through small farming projects, etc. You can learn more about these programs here.
